Shippit warehouse integration: labels at the pack bench, couriers booked at dispatch
OptiWMS connects to your Shippit account with its API key and reaches the carriers set up on that account, such as Australia Post, StarTrack, CouriersPlease, Aramex, TNT and TGE, on your own rates. OptiWMS can create the Shippit order from the sealed parcels and print Shippit's label at the bench, or Shippit's store app keeps creating orders and your team prints in Shippit while OptiWMS waits for the tracking.
What syncs between OptiWMS and Shippit
- Orders to Shippit
- When OptiWMS fetches the label, it creates the Shippit order with one Shippit parcel for each sealed parcel, at its real weight and size. The order carries your store's order number and a reference built from the store's integration number.
- Labels
- Shippit's label prints at the bench through the OptiWMS app. OptiWMS stores a copy, so a reprint never goes back to Shippit.
- Courier bookings
- Standard and express couriers are booked at dispatch, by hand or at the warehouse's daily booking time. Shippit books priority and on-demand orders itself, with the label.
- Tracking
- OptiWMS registers its tracking webhook with Shippit on install. Updates move the parcel's status, mark a parcel booked by hand in Shippit as booked, and the tracking number goes to the sales channel.
- Parcel checks
- OptiWMS compares Shippit's parcels with yours when the Shippit order is created and again when the label comes back. When Shippit swapped a parcel for a smaller package, OptiWMS corrects the Shippit order before any label prints.
How it works in the warehouse
The packer scans the items, weighs each parcel and seals it. When the last parcel is sealed, OptiWMS creates the order in Shippit and the label prints at the bench.
Shippit takes a few seconds to get a new order ready, and OptiWMS waits for it. Getting the label again later uses the same Shippit order and never creates a second one.
Until the courier is booked, Replace label cancels the Shippit order and prints a new label for every parcel, for a wrong weight or a re-pack into a different number of parcels.
Labeled parcels wait on Dispatch under To book. Book all couriers sends them to Shippit in one go, and the warehouse's Courier booking time, for example 15:30, books whatever is left every day.
Booked parcels move to Booked today, grouped by the courier's manifest for the driver hand-over. Parcels the automatic booking could not book show on Exceptions > Courier booking and in an email to the account's administrators.
In the side-by-side setup the pack station shows "Packed. The label is printed in Shippit" with the order number and a QR code of it. The order closes in OptiWMS when Shippit sends the tracking number.
Setting it up
In Shippit, copy the API key from Settings > API.
In OptiWMS, open Integrations > Connect a shipping platform, choose the Shippit card, paste the key, pick Production or Staging and press Install. OptiWMS registers its tracking webhook with Shippit.
Press Settings on the Shippit row and choose Label handling: OptiWMS fetches the label, or Platform prints (side-by-side).
When OptiWMS fetches the label, turn off order sync in Shippit's store app for that store, and turn on "Consider all dimensions and weight during package allocation" in Shippit under Settings > Package allocation.
Under Integrations > Map shipping options, map each store shipping option to a Shippit service level (standard, express, priority or on_demand) or a specific carrier, such as Eparcel or StarTrackPremium.
Set Courier booking time on the warehouse for a daily automatic booking, and a Customer email for orders without one in the Shippit settings.
Shippit questions
Does printing the label book the courier?
For standard and express orders, booking is a separate step on Dispatch, with Book all couriers or Book selected, or at the warehouse's booking time. Until then a label can still be replaced, or the order canceled, with nothing left behind in Shippit. Priority and on-demand orders are booked by Shippit with the label.
Which carriers can I use through Shippit?
The carriers set up on your Shippit account. Shippit reaches Australia Post, StarTrack, CouriersPlease, Aramex, TNT, TGE and more under one key. A shipping mapping can name a service level and let Shippit pick the courier from your allocation preferences, or name a specific carrier.
Why turn off order sync in Shippit's store app?
When OptiWMS fetches the label, it creates the Shippit order itself. With the store app's order sync left on, Shippit receives every order twice, once from the store and once from OptiWMS.
What happens if Shippit does not answer?
OptiWMS never creates a second Shippit order. It asks Shippit again for the label of the order it created, and if it cannot tell whether the order was created, it gives you the order number and reference to look for in Shippit.
