Starshipit WMS integration: print at the pack bench or in Starshipit

Starshipit is a shipping and tracking platform used across Australia and New Zealand. OptiWMS connects to it with your Starshipit API key and subscription key. At the pack station OptiWMS creates the order in Starshipit, prints Starshipit's label at the bench and sends the tracking number to your store. Teams that print in Starshipit's own screen can switch the integration to side by side, and OptiWMS closes the order when the tracking comes back.

What syncs between OptiWMS and Starshipit

Orders to Starshipit
Starshipit prints only for an order it holds, so OptiWMS creates the order there first and prints by Starshipit's own order id. An address you change in OptiWMS is updated in Starshipit while the order is unprinted.
Courier choice
A mapping set to auto lets your Starshipit rules and default courier decide, and the order shows the courier Starshipit used. A mapping can also name a courier, such as PlainLabel, or a courier and service, such as AusPost/7E55.
Labels and booking
Labels print at the bench through the OptiWMS app. Starshipit books the courier when the label prints, and the parcel stays on Dispatch until someone marks it handed over.
Tracking
Starshipit posts tracking to a callback URL with a token unique to the integration. Each delivery is logged with its order number, status, tracking number and what OptiWMS did with it.
Manifests and pickups
From Dispatch you ask Starshipit for a manifest, and its reference is recorded on each parcel. Pressing Create manifest twice never puts a parcel on two manifests.

How it works in the warehouse

  1. The packer scans, weighs and seals at the pack station. OptiWMS sends the parcels' weights and sizes, creates the Starshipit order and prints the label at the bench.

  2. Starshipit books the courier as the label prints, so the parcel shows Ready to hand over on Dispatch.

  3. Tick the parcels and choose Create manifest for the driver's pick list, or Book pickup with a Pickup from and Pickup to window when the courier should come to the warehouse.

  4. When the driver takes the parcels, Mark handed over records who handed them over and when, and takes them off the list.

  5. In the side-by-side setup OptiWMS creates the order in Starshipit and the packer prints it there. OptiWMS closes the order once Starshipit confirms the order OptiWMS created is printed and carries the tracking number.

Setting it up

  1. In Starshipit, copy the API key and the Subscription key from Settings > API.

  2. In OptiWMS, open Integrations > Connect a shipping platform, choose the Starshipit card, paste both keys and press Install. OptiWMS mints a token for the tracking callback.

  3. Press Settings on the Starshipit row, copy the callback URL under Tracking, and paste it into Starshipit > Settings > Tracking & notifications as the notification endpoint.

  4. Choose Label handling in the same dialog: OptiWMS fetches the label, or Platform prints (side-by-side).

  5. Under Integrations > Map shipping options, map each store shipping option to auto, a courier, or a courier and service.

  6. For side by side, leave Starshipit's own store connector off for that store, or turn off its order import and its writeback.

Starshipit questions

Do my Starshipit rules still apply?

Yes. With auto in the shipping mapping, your Starshipit rules and default courier pick the courier, and the order's carrier shows the courier Starshipit used.

Which sender address goes on the label?

Starshipit prints with the sender address set on your Starshipit account. An order split across warehouses ships every leg from that address.

What if two stores use the same order number?

The reference OptiWMS sends starts with the store's integration number, so orders from two stores never match each other. When another order already holds the number, OptiWMS creates this one with the integration number appended, for example #1001-34, and leaves the other order unchanged.

Can OptiWMS void a Starshipit label?

Starshipit has no void. Replace label asks you to confirm, because the old label may still be billed, and keeps its reference on the order so it can be voided in the carrier's portal.

What about a Plain Label with no tracking number?

At the bench the order still counts as shipped, and the store is told the items shipped with no tracking attached. In side by side the order waits for a tracking number: type or scan it into the package in Starshipit before you print, or use Enter tracking manually afterwards.
